Patricia P. Brister

casualHers is a story from the school house to the White House. In 1980, when Patricia Brister reluctantly took the helm of the PTA at her children’s school, you could instantly predict her leadership style was the start of something special. At 34 years-old then, Pat proved to be a steady and passionate force for Our Lady of the Lake. The daughter of a plant worker, her roll-up-the sleeves brand and get-it-done demeanor earned her praise and admiration. But it also caught the eye of political party loyalists who recruited Pat into campaign headquarters.

In 2000, Pat Brister rose to lead the Louisiana Republican Party, the first woman to ever do so. She was elected by a 144-member committee of elected Republicans throughout Louisiana. As Chairman of the Louisiana Republican Party, Pat led the Louisiana delegation at the Republican National Convention.

After giving direction to her party and parish, Pat was enlisted to lead the George W. Bush for President Campaign in Louisiana. She stepped down from her post as Chairman of the state party and stepped up to the challenge of electing a President. In her new role, she masterfully directed Louisiana’s vote toward President Bush, and in doing so, she was recognized for her poise and professionalism.

Pat served as CEO and Chairman of the Trustees ofPresident Bush   Orion College. She serves on the board of directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas. She currently serves as Chairman of the Causeway Commission, and is the former Executive Director of the Northshore Business Council of St. Tammany. Pat has been an active leader on the Board of Children’s Advocacy Center, the Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee, the St. Tammany Environmental Service Commission, the Council for Families, the Louisiana Museum Board, and the Louisiana Bicentennial Commission.
